Michael Newton

Michael Newton, professor emeritus in the Department of Forest Science at the OSU College of Forestry, is the principal investigator on the stream temperatures study. He has his Ph.D. 1964, M.S., 1960, and B.S., 1959 from OSU and B.S. from the University of Vermont . His research interests include forest ecology; reforestation; competition; vegetation management; herbicides; environmental impact analysis, long-term productivity; silviculture/wildlife interactions.

Liz Cole

Liz Cole, a faculty research assistant at OSU, has been working in the woods for the past 25 years. She has an M.S. in forest ecology from OSU and a B.S. in forestry from Utah State University . Her current research with Michael Newton focuses on the impacts of riparian buffers on stream temperature and fish habitat in small-order Oregon streams.
